I have been trying all day to install SmithCart 4.46.  Each time, after accepting the license agreement and clicking Next, the screen sits there spinning for a long while, until finally an ASP error screen is displayed saying the web request has timed out.  When I go check the installation, SC is only partially installed.

I am running DNN 5.6.2, and MS SQL Server 2008 R2.

This is an attempt at a "clean installation" following the guidelines in this thread:

http://www.smith-consulting.com/Forum...

I had previously installed SC 4.28.  I removed all Smith Cart modules from DNN, removed all SmithCart tables and stored procedures from the database, deleted all SmithCart files from the file system in the DesktopModules folder, I cleared the IIS cache.

Then I spent the rest of the day trying to install SC 4.46, only to get partial installations after a timeout error each time.

Has anyone seen this before?  Have any ideas what's causing it?

Thanks for your help.

Who is your hosting provider? Try increasing your webserver timeout in the web.config.

My hosting provider is 3Essentials.

We tried increasing the timeout settings in web.config. It didn't help. All day yesterday the installation kept timing out.

Finally I just uploaded the installation .zip file to the support people at 3Essentials and they installed it for me.

The problem may be on my side, or at 3Essentials, I don't know. I'm still interested in whether you find something on your side or not, so I'll monitor the forums for timeouts issues.

For now, I've moved on to other things.

Thanks for your quick response Scott!

We have seen this one time in the past with a customer running on the base shared hosting package at godaddy. Here is the solution that fixed it http://www.smith-consulting.com/Forum...

Thanks for this link Scott. It provides more details that I think will help me. I think I'll go in to web.config and change the settings as suggested in that post so that in the future, hopefully, the installation will not time out.
