Is it possible to disable / hide the add to cart button if a product is sold out?

I have noticed that I can still add a sold out item to my cart - seems silly to be able to do so.

Hi Sian,

You could use the "Enable Inventory Management" feature located in the Cart Settings, under the general Cart Setup section. When “Enable Inventory Management” is checked the cart will check for available quantity on hand, if quantity on hand for a product is less than the quantity the user has added to the cart, then the cart will display a message and not allow the user to proceed past the cart screen. If quantity on hand is available then the customer is allowed to proceed through the checkout and after a successful order, the quantity on hand field will be decremented by the quantity ordered. Product quantity on hand is managed in the product setup screen. When “Enable Inventory Management” is not checked the cart will not manage inventory as described above.

Hi Kevin

DNN 5.6.3, SC 4.57

I am using mini cart module and buynow module on same page. I have inventory management enabled, and show sold out message enabled.

If I add a product that shows as sold out, it adds to my cart, but if I then try and view the cart, I get an error as follows :

A critical error has occurred.
Input string was not in a correct format.

The only way I can see the cart again, is to add a product that is in stock, then I can delete the product that is out of stock.

This is not very user friendly, hence my original suggestion to disable / hide the add to cart button if a product is out of stock, rather than allowing a user to add it, and then try to check out, only then to be notified of the fact that they can't (as you mentioned above), or find themselves unable to even access the cart (as I have just doscovered is happening now in the lastest 4.57 build).

Pls pass the bug onto programming in the interim

Hi Sian,

I have not been able to replicate this issue on our test portal, if you take a look at www7.smith-consulting.com there is a "Sold Out" product and the Add To Cart button has been disabled by the Enable Product Inventory feature so the user will not be able to add the product to the Cart.
