Hi Guys,

I am having dfuculties with product variants and their quantity on hand.

The store I have set up for my client is based around clothing www.bigbroads.com.au

For each Item of clothing, there are multiple sizes. And assigned in the product variants section, I have set up the quantity for each size. So for example my variants look like this: (exapmple is the colorful orange shirt)

SortOrder Variant Group Sku Variant Name Display Type Required Qty On Hand Variant Image Price Adj Weight Adj Conditional Group Select
0 Size   S - 10 DropdownList 2   0.00 0   Edit Delete
1 Size   M - 12 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete
2 Size   1L - 14 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete
3 Size   XL - 16 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete
4 Size   1XL - 18 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete
5 Size   2XL - 20 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete
6 Size   3XL - 22 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete
7 Size   4XL - 24 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete
8 Size   5XL - 26 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete
9 Size   6XL - 28 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete
10 Size   7XL - 30 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete
11 Size   8XL - 32 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete
12 Size   9XL - 34/36 DropdownList 0   0.00 0   Edit Delete

For the colourful orange shirt, I have set the quantity on hand (in the product set up screen) to zero, so in theory, all I have are 2 small colourful orange shirts.

Now the dificulty is that even though I have the small variant of this shirt set to a quantity of 2, then this is selected in the dopdown list, It still shows th sold out message. My guess is that It is not using the variant quantity, but using the base quantitiy for the product.

So I made sure that the "Enable Inventory Management" check box is selected.

So for this part, is there anything that I have Missed or completed incorrectly for the product variant quantity on hand not to be used.?

The next difuculty I am having is that when a product variant is selected, and added to tthe cart, the quantity on hand displayed is the quantity set for the base product, and not the variant.

Any help no getting this to work will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Julius

Hi Julius,

You have done everything correctly. I have been able to replicate both of the issues you have described and have sent it into programming. Thank you for your feedback and I will post back with an update.

Thanks, Kevin

Hi Julius,

As an update, I spoke to one of our programmers today about the variant inventory and sold out message and currently the sold out message is only programmed to be displayed when the product level inventory reaches 0 and not yet programmed with the variant inventory.  Programming this item is on the dev roadmap but I dont have a completion date to give yet.

Thanks, Kevin

Thanks for the update Kevin.

Just for my understanding. Once that has been corrected, and when the product variants have been set up on a product, will the sold out message be present only on variants that have been sold out?

Also, would it be worth mentioning that, if a products variant has a quantity on hand of 0, will the variant option be taken away from the dropdown list/radio button selection?

I ask this from a customers point of view. It will be easy for customers to see what is in stock and what is not, simply by making the variant hidden if the quantity on hand for that variant is 0.

Kind Regards,

Julius
