I tried to updgrade the cart to website payments pro. When I went to check out, it gave me an message saying error we couldn't complete your payment status: false message: security error. I'm not for sure what this means?

Was there a number with that security error message?

Is there anything in the dnn event viewer for the paypal security error that has a number with it?

Here is a link that discusses the paypal security error https://www.x.com/thread/39470 it looks like the issue has to do with your credentials. In the cart settings do you have test mode checked. If you are using a live paypal account you cant check test mode. Test mode only works with a paypal sandbox account. Also at paypal their is a billing agreement that needs to be agreed to online before your gateway account is enabled. I recommend calling paypal and validating your credentials.

This is what I got back from paypal. As far as I can see, everything is set up. We are approved, and I was running this live.

Hello Michael Andrews,

This is not an error message that would be getting returned from PayPal. If the shopping cart was connecting to PayPal and erroring out, you would be getting back a long error message, a short error message and a 5 digit error code. I checked your logs for the last 5 days and I do not see any API requests hitting your account. This sounds like a general error that your cart is giving. I would suggest checking with your cart provider to see what this specific error message means, or if they have logs that they can check to see what is causing the error or if they can verify your setup in the cart.

Sincerely,
Chad

I am having similar issues, I have a paypal sandbox test account, I have copied the username, password, and signature from the test account in the setup exactly. When in test mode I got the same message but said configuration error. Out of test mode it says security error.

I have already tried setting up smithcart with First Data unsuccessfully, but the module kept throwing critical errors through all troubleshooting. I really need the Paypal Pro it work.

My problem was I had the email in there for the username. When you go to pro, they assign a new username and password and key. My username looks something like this.

this is from the event logs when I get the security error, not in test mode

That error looks like some files are locked. Try restarting your website or restarting IIS if you can.

I am using the API username, API password, and signature. Not the paypal account login info. So that should be correct for me...

Paypal website payments pro requires full trust can you verify that you are running in a full trust environment?
